The British Tamil forum which supposedly represents 400,000 Tamil people living in the UK sought help from India to improve the lives of the Northern Sri Lanka people.
They met with officials from the Indian high commission in London last week for the Northern Tamil People who they claimed were “first Sri Lankan but had an affinity to India”.
Some of the suggested measures included psychological and psychiatric help for the Tamils in the region affected during the war against the LTTE, besides setting up of Indian education institutions branches.
The forum also suggested a bridge between Rameshwaram and a Northern Sri Lankan port for easier movement of goods and services and suggested that the ferry service that existed before the war should be resumed.
