Rugger Player Wasim Thajudeen was murdered on 17th May 2012. Previous regime suppressed this murder findings because of the involvement of Rajapakshas. This case was resurrected after the new Good Governance Government came into power on 8th January 2015.
Police has sent the video recordings of the murder scene to the IT section of the University of Colombo. On 4th January 2016 University of Colombo submitted it’s report to the Court. Report indicated that the pictures were not clear because of street lamp and vehicle lights and recommended to send it to IT expertise in American FBI and Canada Metro Politan to obtain more detailed report. On 7th January 2016, the Court ordered CID to send the video recordings to respective foreign organizations, obtain report and submit to the court. Even after lapse of one month video recordings are still lying in the court. This was revealed when the case was taken up for inquiry. The Court ordered to keep the video recordings in Court custody.
There were wide spread allegation that influential people are involved in causing delay in this case.Delay in sending videos to foreign countries strengthen this allegation.
