FCID has requested the Defence Ministry that Yoshith’s official status in the navy should not obstruct ongoing investigation against him. Followed by this to pave way for the FCID to proceed their investigation independently, on defence Ministry’s direction, he is said to have been suspended from service.
Navy headquarters has suspended the services of Lieutenant, Yoshitha Rajapasa as from 28th February 2016. He is currently held in remand prison.
With the suspension of services, the Lieutenant would be deprived of his pay and allowances as per the 1982 Navy Pay Code, which was revised on Jan. 13 1998 by a Special Gazette Notification numbering 1010/1. Further, he would not be permitted entry into any naval premises without the approval of Navy headquarters, the sources said.
