During the reign of Mahinda, most important Cabinet decisions such as Hedging, creation of Mihin Lanka, purchasing Aeroplanes., investments abroad etc were taken by the Mini Cabinet. I have not seen any cabinet papers on these matters. Due to respect collective responsibility of the Cabinet, I kept quite then said Wijemuni Soyza in a press conference held in SLFP Headquarters yesterday.
In this conference one of the journalists said, despite SLFP Central Committee decided that anyone criticizing the decisions of the Party Leader or the Party will be subjected to disciplinary action. With the appointment of new organizers of the SLFP, Mahinda goes round the country and criticize it, why no action so far? He asked the Minister. Instead of answering the question direct, Wijemuni Soyza said that, now only freedom is there in the party to express views independently, which was not there earlier when he was in power. He should be happy that he enjoys the freedom now. However, if they come within the shooting range they will be shot. In other words, he wants to tell that there is a tolerance limit. Further, he said that there is no place for family rule hereafter. With Basil Rajapakshe we have nothing to do with in future. Mahinda and Namal are different kettle of fish, he said.
