Minister Ravi Karunanayake said, stern action will be taken against parties referred to in Panama Papers, if they fail to divert their investments in Sri Lanka
The Finance Minister said investing large amounts of Srilankan funds in other countries damages the economy of Sri Lanka.
Minister Ravi Karunanayake in response to the allegations leveled by the National Freedom Front over the VAT increase said, the VAT increase is purely based on the high debt of the previous tenure of the UPFA led government.
In the meantime , JVP Leader, Anurakumara Dissanayake said that Government Ministers continue to put the blame on the previous government for VAT increase. This is absolutely wrong. If someone was responsible for some serious financial crime, person concerned should take the responsibility and punished. Instead punishing the public is unfair, he stressed.
