The case filed against Gunawardena by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption on his failure to declare his assets during the years 2011 and 2012 was taken up by Colombo Additional Magistrate on 11th May 2016 for inquiry.
Followed by this investigation was ordered by the Fort Magistrate’s Court.
Former MP Sajin De Vass Gunawardena’s residence in Cotta Road, Borella, was raided by the Criminal Investigation Department Officers.
Several documents related to money laundering had been taken into CID custody.
However, Gunawardena’s lawyers requested the court for time to obtain necessary papers from the Parliament. Hence the case was adjourned till 15th September.
