Chandrika Assures Equal Rights For all Races and Investigation on Human Rights Violations

Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga ,participated in United Nation’s special sittings on behalf of Srilanka. In her speech delivered she said, that Srilanka was badly affected in internal war. Although the internal conflict is over, peace has not been restored. This is the bitter fact that we have to accept. As for as we are concerned ethnic conflict in Srilanka cannot be resolved by using Army. We strongly believe that there  should be a reliable investigation in to Human Rights Violation during the war should be done. If we do this only, we can meet the challenge thrown by the inter national community.
In order to resolve ethnic issue and bring permanent peace in Srilanka, major two political parties in Srilanka joined and formed a national Government.Proposed new constitutions will provide equal status and rights to all four ethnic groups in Srilanka. We have obtained the support of the opposition party in this effort.
