1,600 Army Personnel Deployed to Assist in Disaster Relief

 1,600 Army personnel have been deployed to assist those affected with the recent inclement weather.
Army Media Spokesman Brigadier Jayanath Jayaweera said 139 have been deployed for disaster relief in the Kegalle Aranayake area.
Sixteen (16) deaths have so far been reported from the Aranayake area, which includes 11 males and 5 females.
The Army concluded their search operations in the Bulathkohupitiya area last evening after recovering the bodies of all missing persons. 14 bodies were recovered from the area in addition to body parts of two persons.
In search operations carried out island-wide, the Army has been able to rescue 46,000 people in distress and shelter them in relief camps.
