GMOA staged a four-hour token strike on May 31, accusing the minister of acting in an authoritarian manner in making appointments for post internships and also alleged that his family was interfering in ministry affairs.But Senaratne has refuted both allegations.
At last health ministry has agreed to make fresh amendments to the list of post-internship appointees demanded by the GMOA. This is as a result of talks between minister Rajitha Senaratne and the GMOA last night.
GMOA secretary Nalinda Herath has applauded Ministry’s flexibility in this connection.He said that they were able to safeguard the independence of of doctors appointment and transfers.
