Final Rites of Alavi Moulanan Today

The former governor passed away last evening at the age of 85 at a private hospital in Colombo.

Final rites of the former Governor of the Western Province Alawi Maulana will be observed today.

He was a former Minister as well as a leader of trade unions and also a senior member of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.

Maulana is considered as a leading figure among Sri Lankan trade unions and was subject to attacks on various occasions owing to his influence.
