Special Discussion by Postal Trade Unions

The Joint Postal Services Trade Unions said  a special discussion will be held today with the Secretary to the Prime Minister and other officials to address the issues over the trade union action launched by employees of the Postal department.

Convener of the Union Chinthaka Bandara said authorities have failed to address the demands of the employees engaged in the trade union action.

He said a discussion will be held with officials of all authorities involved in providing solutions to the issues of postal workers chaired by the Secretary to the Prime Minister.

Meanwhile employees of the Postal Department will engage in protests opposite the Central Mail Exchange in Colombo as well as opposite post offices of major towns across the country at 12 noon today, protesting the delay in granting solutions to their demands.

Bandara said employees of the Department expected favorable outcomes to their demands by the end of the day failing which the employees will engage in continuous trade union action over the next few days.
