Colombo Chief Magistrate Ordered Mahindananda to Hand Over Passport to Court
When the case against Parliamentarian Mahindananda Aluthgamage for the misuse of funds amounting to 53 million rupees during the MPs tenure as Minister of Sports during the previous government was taken up for hearing, the Colombo Chief Magistrate Lal Ranasinghe Bandara has issued an order to him to hand over his passport to Court.
The charges were filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption claiming the money was utilised to purchase sports equipment that were later used for political programmes.
The former storekeeper of the Sports Ministry Ajith Nishantha has been named as the second suspect in the case.
The Colombo Chief Magistrate therefore issued an order instructing MP Aluthgamage to be present in Court on the 3rd of December.
