A 103-year-old man and a 91-year-old woman in the U.K. have become the world’s oldest newlyweds after tying the knot in a small ceremony in which the beaming bride was seen pushing the groom around in his wheelchair.

Kirby met Luckie when he was 76 and just divorced, while Luckie had become a widow three years earlier, in 1988.

“It’s about time, really. Doreen keeps me young and I can definitely say we’re going to spend the rest of our lives together,” said Kirby outside the venue at a hotel in Eastbourne, East Sussex.

“I was a bit giddy. It was such a lovely day and great to see everyone,” Luckie said.

George Kirby and Doreen Luckie tied the knot on Saturday after being together for 27 years - making them the world's oldest newlyweds. Together the pair have a combined age of 194 years and 281 years

RAF veteran George also celebrated his 103rd birthday on the same day as he got married to Doreen (left) in front of 50 guests    His son Neil Kirby (pictured pushing George in his wheelchair) was also his best man. He said: 'Long ago we adopted Doreen as our mum, and we're all delighted that she's now a Kirby... it is about time my dad finally made an honest woman out of her'

The pair met through an organisation that helps older people make friends in 1988. Between them the couple have seven children, 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, and were both previously married

Doreen kisses her new husband at the service in Langham Hotel in Eastborne. Before the ceremony she had a hen party with her 'golden girls' and said of her wedding: 'I wasn't a blushing bride, but I was a bit giddy'

When they first met, newly-divorced George would come to Doreen's house and admire her roses - and she says he was a 'smooth talker'. The 103-year-old said his new wife 'keeps me young'

Instead of wedding presents, husband and wife instead asked for donations to their favourite charities - the Royal Air Forces Association and the Women's Royal Naval Service Benevolent Trust

The couple have lived 'in sin' together in 1990, and George's son Neil said they adopted Doreen as their mum 'long ago'. The 63-year-old who was his father's best man said: 'We're all delighted that she's now a Kirby'

'I can definitely say we're going to spend the rest of our lives together', besotted groom George said

Doreen still does yoga on the seafront ever week, while George only gave up working at the age of 94
