Field Marshal Sarath to Join UNP and DP Merge with UNP

The UNP and the Democratic Party  came to an agreement earlier in the year and Fonseka was appointed through the UNP National List to Parliament. Subsequently, he was appointed Minister of Regional Development.

News received from Democratic Party sources revealed that the leader, Sarath Fonseka is to formally join the UNP in the coming days and  the Democratic Party is likely to be merged with UNP once Fonseka joins the UNP.
