Compensation Paid For Landslide Victims

Disaster Management Centre’s  Kegalle District officer, Jagath Mahendra said compensation was paid to all victims’ families ,who were identified and completed.

He said that out of the 31 bodies recovered, only 9 corpses were identified claiming 100,000 rupees, which was granted per family as compensation.

He said displaced persons are still housed in 30 temporary camps in Aranayake.

The camps have been set up in Dehiowita, Yatiyanthota, Deraniyagala and Bulathkohupitiya.

Mahendra said relief efforts are continuing in the area. Mahendra also said sanitary facilities to those affected are being provided.
