The Government has warned News Agencies disseminating distorted news specially damaging the reconciliation efforts taken with the minorities in Srilanka. Certain media organizations are working with hidden agenda of dividing the people and obtain intended results.
In one of the Sinhala newspapers, a news item was published stating that with the participation of foreign judges, a war crime tribunal will be established as mentioned in the UNHRC. In this connection, President Maithreepala Sirisena expressed his dissatisfaction over this publication.
Hence, the Govt. may resort to take legal steps against those news Agencies, which disseminate distorted news from Srilanka, said Kalan Jeyasuriya, Director Information.
