The Jaffna University all academic activities were suspended following clashes that unfolded at the premises on Saturday.
Following the clash that broke out during a welcome event organized for first-year students, four students at the Jaffna University were hospitalized. Investigation is being carried out by analyzing CCTV footage of the clash following directives issued by Minister of University Education Lakshman Kiriella.
Several students involved in the incident have been identified. Minister Lakshman Kiriella said he has informed police to implement the law strictly against the perpetrators.
The University of Jaffna will reopen for academic activities today. The authorities at the Jaffna University yesterday decided to recommence academic activities following discussions held between all stakeholders.
