The Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division has commenced investigating against Former Minister Rajapaksa’s land deals in Brownhill, Matara.
The FCID is investigating on several complaints been made regarding land deals, including the acquisition of a 1.5 acre land in Oruthota and the construction of a house in the land. Complaints have also been received on a land and a house in Malwana area.
Basil Rajapaksa was arrested by the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division in connection with a case related to a land dispute that is being heard at the Matara Magistrate’s Court.
The case pertaining to a land dispute involving Former Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa will be taken up before Matara Magistrate and Additional District Judge Eureka De Silva this afternoon.
The Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court yesterday remanded Former Minister Basil Rajapaksa and Former Director of the Divi Neguma Department Kithsiri Ranawaka till the 1st of August.
He is currently in remand custody in connection with misappropriation of funds at the Divi Neguma Department. Following illness he has been admitted to the Colombo National Hospital yesterday.
A spokesperson of the National Hospital said the former minister was transferred from the Prison Hospital this evening.
