Earlier while filing a report before Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris, former Colombo Chief JMO Professor, Ananda Samarasekara said, several of the parts of Wasim Thajudeen’s body were missing or could not be located in the mortuary coolers of the Colombo JMO’s office. He said he had instructed two minor staff members to store the body parts in the deep freezer. The two minor staff members had however denied the body parts were entrusted to them.
Secretary to the Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Anura Jayawickrama, in a report submitted to court today, said that the former Colombo Chief Judicial Medical Officer (JMO) Ananda Samarasekara had acted in an irresponsible manner, when conducting the first postmortem on former rugby player Wasim Thajudeen’s body.
He is responsible for the missing parts of Thajudeen’s body, said Secretary to the Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine
In his report, the Health Ministry Secretary said this information had come to light during an inquiry by the Health Ministry’s Emergency Raids Unit.
