Kithsiri Remanded by Colombo Fort Magistrate

Former Director of Tourism Promotion Authority Kithsiri Ranawaka was remanded yesterday (23) by Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne till 6th September 2016  in connection with  alleged misuse of Rs 5.7 million.

FCID arrested him and produced before court.

It is alleged that he had, in his capacity as a director of the Authority, approved the release of the money which was to be used for a tourism awareness campaign. However, the money was allegedly used for providing refreshments during the Uva Provincial Election.

He  is also involved in several cases of misuse of funds of the Divi Neguma Department.

The other members of the director board are also being sought by police in connection with the incident.
