CID Gave Clean Certificate that Ekneligoda Had no Links With LTTE

The Ekneligoda  abduction case was heard before Acting Homagama Magistrate, Saroja Wanigasekara yesterday.
In this connection eight Army Intelligence Officers currently under custody were produced before the Acting Magistrate.
The CID informed courts that their investigations into journalist Prageeth Ekneligoda, disclosed that Ekeneligoda had no links with the LTTE, neither had he funded them or was there any legal action taken against him in connection with  terrorist activities, Ekneligoda’s wife Sandya Ekneligoda, making a statement to the media outside the Homagama Magistrate’s court said yesterday.
The CID has also informed courts that their information was based on discussions with the Deputy IGP, Airforce Commander, Navy Commander and Army Commander.
The Security Forces Commanders had further confirmed that Ekeneligoda had not gone down on record as have been connected to any terrorist activity.
Eight Army Intelligence Officers currently under custody were ordered to be further remanded until September 6 by Acting Homagama Magistrate.
CID Sub Inspector Premathilaka and officers gave evidence on behalf of the plaintiff while Darshana Kuruppu and lawyers appeared on behalf of the defendants.
