Foreign Funds to Mahinda to buy Elevator
After Maithripala Sirisena became President, he lived at a bungalow for more than six months.
Thereafter, it was given as official residence to Rajapaksa after a full refurbishment done at a cost of Rs. 40 million. As Rajapakshe has knee problem he requested the Government to fix an elevator for his official residence. But the Government was yet to respond to his request. In the meantime, Rajapaksa has told this requirement to his friends during a recent visit to Japan. Further, he discussed this during his Korea tour as well.
Well-wishers from both countries said to have given financial assistance to ex-president Mahinda Rajapaksa to buy an elevator for the luxurious official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo 07.
