Leader of the Democratic Party Field Marshall Sarath Fonseka speaking at a Party meeting with Party members in Anuradhapura made a very irresponsible statement unsuitable for a leader of his stature.
Sarath Fonseka stated that only the side that loses complains that revenge is bad, but as any Buddhist or sane person would see it revenge is bad in any context and cannot be justified. The people of this country don’t select its leaders to Parliament or to overlook our wellbeing so they can fulfill their own personal vendettas. It is very disappointing to hear this from SF.
However SF proceeds to slander former President Rajapakse further by saying that the onetime leader committed all possible wrongs mentioned in Buddhism, now basically lives in temples.
He somewhat justified his statement by saying that only now that the Rajapkse’s live in exile from their “Kingdom” they rant against roguish politics, taking revenge from the families of opposing Party members and fabricating allegations, all part of their one-time regime.
