Speaking at an event yesterday morning (12) at Sri Lanka Foundation, President Sirisena hit out on CID , FCID and Bribery Commission for taking into custody the Former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Navy Commanders to court and drag a cases not for week but more than few months.
There was a reason, he said, for the establishment of independent commissions. If they, and the CID and FCID act with political motives, stern action will have to be taken, Sirisena said.
The former navy commanders are among eight who have been charged over corruption at Avant Garde Maritime Services company. Former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa is also charged in this case.
He is disgusted over this matter . If there is a problem regarding the deals between the Avant Garde company and the Defence Ministry, the ministry could have taken necessary steps in this.
Sirisena also said that the treatment meted out to intelligence officers in the Pradeep Eknaligoda case is not acceptable.
