A Distressed Merchant Ship Rescued By Srilankan Navy

A distressed merchant ship with a captain and 10 seamen on board in seas 11.6 nautical miles off the Colombo harbour has been successfully rescued by the Srilanka Navy.
The ship which was sailing under the Dominican flag had lost control over the captain and listed to the port side and had been informed to the Navy.
Accordingly, two Fast Attack Crafts were dispatched by the Navy and the rescued crew was transferred to the Colombo harbour.
The rescued crew comprised 10 Sri Lankans and one Indonesian. The ship owned by an Indian was sailing under the command of a Sri Lankan Captain.
The rescued persons were handed over to the Colombo Harbour Police.
