A Chinese national has been arrested for the possession of 247 gem stones at the Bandaranaike International Airport .
The suspect had attempted to smuggle the gems, worth over 11.6 million rupees to China. the woman had concealed the gem stones in her travel luggage.
The Customs has confiscated the gem stones while the Chinese national has been imposed a fine of 300,000 rupees.
The Airport Customs is investigating in connection with the incident.
