Bribery Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption Filed a case against Former Deputy Minister Sarana Gunewardene for his failure to declare assets for a period of two years.
Court previously issued notice for the former Deputy Minister in connection with the case. Sarana Gunewardene surrendered to Court through his attorneys and pled guilty.
Accordingly the former Deputy Minister was granted bail while the case will be taken up once again on the 5th of January 2017.
The order was issued by Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya when the case was taken up for hearing today.
The former Deputy Minister was released on two surety bails of 200,000 rupees each.
