Board of Directors of the Lanka Coal Company Dissolved

Based on facts regarding coal purchases made by the company between 2009 and 2016, disclosed in a report submitted by the Auditor General to the Parliament’s Sectoral Oversight Committee on Energy, Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, Ranjith Siyambalapitiya yesterday decided to dissolve Lanka Coal Company’s board of directors, including its Chairman.  Additional Secretary to the ministry, Meril Gunathilaka has been appointed as the acting chairman of the company.
Followed by the dissolution  of  Lanka Coal Company’s board of directors it was proposed to change  the composition, assigning authority and responsibility of the company to a new board of directors.
