Rs 11,000 Million Loss Caused During Mahinda’s Era

The COPE  has examined accounts of 15 state organizations during the period,  1st May 2016 to 31st August 2016.
When submitting the COPE report to the Parliament, Chairman of the Committee On Public Enterprises  (COPE),  MP Sunil Handunnetti has disclosed that   Rs 11 million loss was  caused  in 15 organizations during Mahinda’s time, which include Road Development Authority, Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation,  State Engineering Corporation, Telecommunications Regulatory Commission, Sri Lanka Cricket, Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation, the National Lotteries Board, the Sustainable Energy Authority, the Football Federation of Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Ayurvedic Drugs Corporation, the four Maga Neguma Companies attached to the Road Development Authority, the Ports Authority, Kurunegala Plantations Ltd. and the Employees’ Provident Fund.
 Further  he said,  more than the loss  reordered wasteful expenditure uneconomic projects  carried out were indentified  in these organization. Particularly no owner is there for Suriyaveva ground.  Is Rs 5. 3 billion  is being paid by Ports Authority or by the SLC  remains un answered ? Due to this Rs 530 million loss caused   . In addition  by undertaking projects which has no relevant to the RDA,  Rs57,000 million uneconomic transactions  took place. Srilanka Foot Ball Federation received  millions  of dollars and  Euros.   COPE has  examined how received  fund  was disbursed   Similarly SEC incurred  Rs 2918 million, Hambantota Port loss  of 37,000 million  reordered.    All above losses  were  highlighted  in  the COPE report.
In  total  Rs 11,000 million loss was incurred in 15 organizations.  COPE Chairman requested the Speaker that this report be   debated in detail  in Parliament
