New Regulation to Compel Specialist Doctors to Stay Near the Patients After Surgery

Director General of Health Services Dr. Jayasundara Bandara said,  that specialist doctors, in a majority of cases  in  private hospitals, leave for other duties soon after conducting a surgery, leaving  the patients  at the mercy of other doctors.  Any critical development after surgery may need  immediate attention  of the specialist doctors, who operated .  Hence,  it was decided  to compel specialist doctors  to stay near the patient after the surgery  until  the condition returns to normal.  Once this regulation is  introduced, that an investigation team will be appointed in order to follow up whether the said regulation is being implemented properly.
According to Dr. Bandara this regulation will provide a quality service to  patients who undergo surgeries specially  at private hospitals.
