Forum For Free Education to Rescue SAITM

Forum  For Free Education   has called for a  press conference at this conference,  Jeyawardanapura  Senior Lecturer  Anura Kumara said thus : ’’ Due to  SAITM  dispute, higher education in Srilanka  is  under threat . GMOA  members , who obtained their medical degrees  by using tax  payers  money is objecting recognition of the medical degree offered by SAITM.  They do this  not with the love of  people’s life,   but to safeguard their position.  Appeal Court has given the ruling that  SAITM  has the right  to award medical  degree.  SLMC Head   Pro . Carlo Fonseka  said,  that they  proposed to  appeal to the Supreme court for the revision order.   If  Prof. Carlo Fonseka  cannot  implement  the decision of the Appeal Court,  he should resign his post, said,  Saman Rathna priya, who organized the press conference.  Further he said,  now the SLMC has entered the political field.  Hence,  they  cannot take  an independence decision.

 If medical degree awarded  by SAITM  cannot be accepted, degrees  awarded by  other private Universities and Colleagues should also be made   invalid and  banned ,  the forum concluded.
