73,500 MT’s of Paddy to be Purchased From Farmers

On a  proposal  made by Minister of Rural Economic Affairs P Harrison, the Cabinet of Ministers has approved a programme to purchase 73,500 metric tonnes of paddy  from farmers  covering 17 districts, as the government expects a harvest of 1.32 million metric tonnes of paddy, during the 2016/2017 Maha Season.

Cabinet approved the purchase of paddy directly from farmers with the cooperation of District Secretaries and government agents.
