The Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) has given a deadline, 3rd April 2017 to find a solution to the SAITM issue. The GMOA want the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM) to be shut down.
If the Government fails to resolve it before the deadline GMOA Secretary Dr. Naveen De Zoysa said, that they will resort to strike action. He told reporters that many as 50 other trade unions would join the GMOA in their strike action, effectively crippling essential services.
The government and its ‘ineffective Cabinet of Ministers’ should be held responsible for any deaths of discomfiture experienced by patients, as a result of the strike action, he concluded.
