Constitutional Council ‘s Steering Committee to Meet Today

The Steering Committee of the Constitutional Council is scheduled to convene at the Parliamentary Complex today(4).

Media Spokesman of the Tamil National Alliance Parliamentarian MA Sumanthiran said the draft bill of the new Constitution which is scheduled to be prepared this month will be discussed at the meeting.

The Steering Committee is currently focused on providing solutions to political issues and the distribution of powers, the abolishment of the Executive Presidency, the formulation of a new electoral system and the development of the country.

Chairman of the Steering Committee,  Jayampathy Wickramaratne said an agreement was reached at the party leaders meeting regarding  to the devolution of power.
