Compensation For Meetotamulla Victims

The Government has not yet finalised compensation for the dead persons or property damage as they are still being assessed.  However, the government sources added that Rs. 100,000 each will be provided for the family members of the deceased as a claim.

The President has too advised officials to give fullest assistance to the people affected by the landslide without any worries about fund availability. With regard to the number of deaths in this disaster, the President instructed that the government should take the full responsibility of arranging funerals for the victims as well. Authorities say the number of dead and missing has risen from the collapse of a massive garbage mound in Meetotamulla.
