A special technical team from Japan will be arriving in Sri Lanka today (20) to assess the Meethotamulla garbage disaster .
Ambassador of Japan in Sri Lanka, Kenichi Suganuma said, that the team will be conducting a scientific investigation into the disaster . The technical team has been dispatched to Sri Lanka under orders from the Prime Minister of Japan. Kenichi Suganuma also stated that the team will be compiling a report after the completion of the investigation. The Ambassador presented aid sent by the Government of Japan to the Minister of Disaster Management, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, in order to provide relief to the victims of the Meethotamulla tragedy.
Ambassador of Japan in Sri Lanka, Kenichi Suganuma revealed this information at the press conference held after this occasion. The aid donated by the Japanese government consisted of tents, water purification equipment, generators, portable toilets, lamps, toxic gas detectors, and other essential items.
