Students Poised to Protest

The convener of the protest march , Lahiru Weerasekara stated that the government’s decision to allow  private higher education systems such as SAITM ,  the deduction in the number of students enrolled  in states universities and the reduction of public grants, being a few of the reasons for the cause of  today’s protest.

Although a court order was  obtained  against  today’s proposed  protest demonstration,  supporters are still not willing to back  track but will continue.

He further added that the students will engage in the protests until a suitable solution is provided by the government.

The protests march will commence  at 11.00 am.
