Holding of LG Election Impossible Before 1st July ..

Chairman of the Elections Commission Mahinda Deshapriya said,  while addressing an event in Colombo University yesterday,  that  although  Election amendment law has been submitted in the Parliament and  Extra Ordinary Gazette  notice was issued on 17^th April 2017, the Local Government Election cannot be held  before 1^st July,  because according to the gazette notification voters registration should begin  from 1^st July .
