Objections filed by the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) and Ape Jathika Peramuna (AJP) against United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) nominees Dulles Allahapperuma and Manoj Sirisena, were rejected by the Returning Officer for the Matara District.
The objections were filed on the grounds that the two nominees held dual citizenship. Nevertheless, the Returning Officer refused to accept the objections. Therefore, Allahapperuma and Sirisena would proceed to contest the forthcoming election under the UPFA banner in the Matara District.
