Police Alert Fake Currency Notes Circulation

Srilanka police  head quarters has disclosed  that 38 lakhs  of counterfeit  notes have been detected within 5 months, commencing from 1^st January to 31^st May 2017. Details of counterfeit  notes  detected are:

1. Rs 5000 notes numbering 174

2. Rs 2000 notes numbering  464

3. Rs 1000 notes numbering 2, 272

4. Rs500 notes numbering 1, 320

5. Rs100 notes numbering 6

 Detection was made  by the anti counterfeit   section of the Criminal Investigation Department.  Still  more counterfeit  notes are in circulation. Police have asked  the public  to be alert on doing transactions with currency notes.  If they have any doubt , they are advise to  call on telephone no 011 2326670.
