Austin Fernando Appointed as New Secretary to the President

Governor of the Eastern Province Austin Fernando is scheduled to be appointed as the new Secretary to the President today (4).

He will be appointed as the new Secretary at the President’s official residence. P. B Abeykoon served as the Secretary to the President previously for a period of two years.

He tendered his resignation as the President’s Secretary in June citing personal reasons.

Austin Fernando, a senior member of the civil service previously served as the Secretary of the Ministry of Defence from 2001 – 2004 under the United National Party government.
