100 Relief Centers to be Established in Srilanka

As an when a natural disaster strike National Disaster Centre is not prepared to face it , especially in accommodating victims temporarily.
In such a situation, victims are accommodated in nearby schools thus depriving the students school days.  The use of school buildings had seriously affected educational activities of children and such centres did not have sufficient  facilities to operate it as a relief centre,  said Rajitha Senaratne,Minister  of Health
On a proposal made  by Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Minister of Disaster Management, the cabinet has given  approval to construct 100 centers that can facilitate 100 to 200 people each covering all the 25 districts within the period of 2018 to 2020, and to prepare a method to utilize these buildings and resources in a gainful  manner in  other times, when they are not used as relief centers, Rajitha said.
