Tobacco Based Products Banned From Today

Chairman of the National Authority on Tobacco and Alcohol Dr. Palitha Abeykoon said, that the production and sale of tobacco-based products such as ‘Maavaa’, ‘Baabul’, beedi, ‘Haans’, ‘Paamparaa’, ‘Gutikaa’ as well as betel containing tobacco are  banned with immediate effect from today(19). This ban is imposed in accordance with National Authority on Tobacco order 1 of 2016 on Banned Tobacco, and the Alcohol Act bearing number 27 of 2006.

According to the ban the production, importing, display, or sale of tobacco-based smokeless products have been  banned from today.
