SL Did Not Spend A Cent For Rohitha’s Satellite

Rohitha Rajapaksa, son of   former President Mahinda Rajapaksa appeared before the  Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID) yesterday(15).
Rohitha was questioned yesterday  by the FCID  in connection with the Supreme SAT satellite project of which Rajapaksa was the chief engineer.  FCID questioned him about the satellite project and how the funds came in. In reply , Rohitha Rajapaksa has told the FCID  thus “Sri Lanka did not spend a cent for this project. It was a Singaporean investor,  who invested money and the project was done by a Chinese company. We went ahead with the project as that was what Sri Lanka needed”.
While speaking to the media after he made the statement to the FCID, he said that he is the only engineer qualified in space satellite in Srilanka and  a satellite stationed in the sky cannot be viewed with a magnifying glass  as suggested by some government ministers.
