Jeyampathy Wickremaratne to be the New Minister of Justice?

Followed by the UNP central working committee meeting held in the temple trees last night, current Minister of Justice Wijedasa Rajapakshe is expected to call a press briefing today as a prelude to his resignation. To replace him, Ministers Lakshman Kiriella,Ajith Perera and Jeyampathy Wickremaratne’s names were suggested. However, most of the UNP Ministers and Members of Parliament preferred Jeyampathy Wickremaratne to others and requested the Prime Minister and the President to consider him for the Ministry of Justice Portfolio in case Wijedasa relinghuishes his duties or removed from the portfolio.

Meanwhile, Jeyampathy Wickremaratne said, that if he is asked to take over the Ministry of Justice, first he has to consult the Lanka Sama Samaya Party, which he represents in parliament and get their consent before accepting the portfolio.
