It was her first national address on the situation in northern Rakhine state that has caused more thanĀ 400,000 Rohingya to cross into Bangladesh. She said she wanted to speak to Muslims to find out why they are leaving. Ms Suu Kyi had been heavily criticised by the international community. The latest violence was sparked by an armed attack blamed on Rohingya militants on police posts in August. The security crackdown in response has been called ethnic cleansing by the UN.
