After Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa was elected as one of the MP for Kurunagala, he maintained a low profile in Parliament.
During yesterday’s Parliamentary session, Mahinda Rajapaksa raised a question on Local Government Election. He asked the Prime Minister Wickremesinghe to tell the house, when the Local Government election will be held ?
In response Prime Minister Wickremesinghe said, the Local Government polls would be held in January, next year. Prime Minister further said LG polls had to be delayed due to various practical reasons and added that party leaders could make a decision on the Provincial Council elections later.
Prime Minister made an appeal to all MPs representing the Joint Opposition to assist the SLFP and the UPFA in maintaining peace in the House.
