2  More Petitions Against PC Elections Amendment Act

In addition  to  the petition filed by former Chief Justice Sarath N Silva recently, two petitions against the Provincial Council Elections Amendment Act will be filed at the Supreme Court today(2).

The petitions stated that Fundamental Rights have been violated as several articles regarding  female representation in the Act have been replaced with articles unrelated to the Act. Hence, the petition calls amended Act to be suspended and the election to be held in accordance with the Act currently in place.
