Vice Admiral Sinniah was appointed as the 21st Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy by the President on 22nd August 2017.
Newly appointed Navy Commander Vice Admiral Travis Sinniah, reaches his 55 years of age on 26th September , which is the optional retirement age of a Navy commander . Navy sources said, that the President Maithripala Sirisena had extended his service by one month. Accordingly, he has to retire on 26th October.
The President is empowered to extend the period of service of Navy Commander by one year, whether he will be given one year extension cannot be speculated now.
