Weather Forecast For 17th October 2017

The low pressure areain the Bay of Bengal to the North-east of the island is likely to develop further in to a Depression and move away from the island. Cloudy conditions are expected to continue further and fairly strong winds can be expected over the island and surrounding sea areas during next few days.

Showers or thundershowers at times are expected in the Northern and North-central provinces and in the Trincomaleeand Batticaloa districts and, fairly heavy falls (about 75-100 mm) can be expected at some places.

Several spells of showers will occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central andNorth-Westernprovinces andin Galle andMathara districts.

There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
